George Friedman honored with the first naming for CLA
The first classroom in the College of Liberal Arts (CLA) building under construction has been named with a gift from Connie ’95 and James Kihm in support of the CLA general endowment. The room will be dedicated to retired English Professor George S. Friedman. Connie Kihm returned to college after a 20-year hiatus, and says of her experience and Friedman, “I had traveled the world, and negotiated million-dollar contracts, but facing college courses and interacting with college students overwhelmed me. In Dr. Friedman’s class, I was accepted as just another of the undergraduates – not special or different because of my age. By donating a classroom, I can honor this wonderful teacher and give back something to the school that gave me so much.”

Kihm announced the naming at the groundbreaking for the CLA building on Sept. 12, 2007. Phase I of the building is scheduled to be completed in 2009.
