Keelan Ostrand is an Administrative Assistant I in the Center for Student Diversity. She provides administrative and clerical support to five directors by coordinating event logistics, schedule planning, and assisting with programs and events. She also works closely with various student groups to assist them in event planning. Keelan is originally from Chandler, Arizona. She decided to forge her own path in Fall 2004 and transfer from Mesa Community College to Towson University to finish her undergraduate degree. She comes to CSD as a Summa Cum Laude 2007 graduate of the TU College of Liberal Arts. She also met the additional requirements needed to graduate from the Honors Program. While enrolled at Towson, Keelan had the privilege of studying abroad for eight months in the Dominican Republic, where she became fluent in Spanish. As a student, she was actively involved on campus as a Resident Assistant, a member of the Black Student Union, Latin American Student Organization, Brotherhood, and the White Privilege Awareness Movement. In her spare time, Keelan is thoroughly enjoying building a business of her own and mentoring others with similar goals. She plans to retire and be financially independent before the age of 30 in order to dedicate her time and money to international development work, travel, etc. Her interests include speaking, listening to and reading anything in Spanish, learning, dancing (especially Latin and hip-hop), spending time with the people she loves, and reading books on self-improvement, Latin and African-American History, and political and social commentary, among many other things.
