He formerly served as the Assistant to the Vice President for Diversity Initiatives and Director of the Office of Multicultural Affairs at Wichita State University. For more than three decades, Mr. Collins has specialized in issues related to access, equity and diversity at a number of universities. Under his leadership, the Martin Luther King Program at the University of Minnesota was modified and enhanced. Mr. Collins is proud to have been the founder of diversity support offices at Virginia Commonwealth University, Old Dominion University, and the University of Texas-Arlington. Victor also made significant contributions to the diversity initiatives at the University of Iowa, Purdue University, and Wichita State University. Victor grew up in northwest Indiana and did his undergraduate coursework at the Defiance College in Ohio and graduate work at Western Michigan University. His primary professional experience and expertise is related to multicultural affairs, cultural competence, access and retention, and leadership development. Lately, he has become an advocate of the utilization of digital storytelling to support diversity, learning, and intergroup dialogue. He is active in NASPA and remains a life member of both the NAACP and Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
