Dowell Health Center operates by appointments
Our appointment system is intended to avoid long waits at the Health Center and to assure patients with urgent problems are seen promptly. For this reason, we prefer that you call first, rather than come as a walk-in.

When requesting a follow-up appointment, please tell the receptionist the name of the provider you saw the first time so that there is continuity of care.

For urgent or serious problems, you will be given a same-day appointment, and for most other acute illnesses, an appointment within 24 to 48 hours.

Walk-ins
If you call first and make an appointment, you will not have a long wait at the Health Center. However, if you come as a non-emergency walk-in, you will wait behind regularly scheduled appointments to see a triage nurse.

Please be on time for your appointment
We strive to keep your waiting time at the clinic as short as possible. It will help if you are on-time for your appointment, preferably 5 to 10 minutes early. Our appointments are tightly scheduled, so if you are late, the next patient may be seen ahead of you. If you are more than 10 minutes late, you may be rescheduled.

Charging for no-shows
If you fail to show or cancel 2 hours in advance for certain types of visits we will charge your account a no-show fee.  These visits include physicals, annual GYN exams, immunizations and TB tests, allergy shots and STD screenings.  Patients with early morning appointments should call by 8am and leave a message on our answering machine.
