The Towson UTeach program takes an innovative approach to the recruitment and preparation of students for certification as secondary science and mathematics educators. Towson UTeach students, beginning in the freshman year, are immersed in progressively challenging teaching experiences as they build content knowledge and teaching skills through coursework and continuous mentoring from highly-experienced on campus teachers.
Additionally, Towson UTeach students have the opportunity to intern at non-profit organizations, allowing our students even before they graduate to impact Maryland’s youth in formal and informal educational settings.
Because passionate, talented teachers can influence an adolescent’s choice of college major and subsequent career path, Towson UTeach alumni will play a vital role in populating the ranks of Maryland’s computer workers, tradesmen, scientists, engineers and mathematicians – the essential core of the 21st century workforce.
