Department of Economics
Our mission is to provide an excellent economics education built on a comprehensive liberal arts foundation to enable our graduates to excel as leaders in a dynamic business environment and/or a career in public service by means of individualized student advising, professional work experience, teaching excellence, and commitment to the highest academic and ethical standards.
The Department of Economics faculty are dedicated to excellent teaching and active research. The curriculum prepares students for positions in the government, business, and consulting industries as well as for graduate programs in economics, law, public policy and business journalism. The program is designed to provide students with the ability to analyze the American economic system and international and domestic economic forces that determine production, prices, profits and incomes.
Students are assigned an adviser upon declaring economics as a major. Students meet with their advisers each term to discuss their program and for assistance in making any necessary changes in their course of study.
