Mini Courses

The English Language Center offers short term courses for those who require specialized language training for employment or related special needs. These courses range from eight to 13 weeks and are designed to focus on a particular language skill. Au pairs, visiting professor spouses, or anyone in the community can enroll and benefit from these courses. Contact the ELC for specific course information and costs. To apply, legal residents and visitors on J, B, or H visas should complete the first two pages of the application.  F-1 students may take one of these classes in addition to their regular program courses.  Financial documents are not necessary.

English Conversation and Culture Class (Perfect for au pairs)

    • Session I: Saturday, June 27 to Sunday, June 28, 2015 (8:30AM to 5:30PM)
    • Session II: Saturday, July 18 to Sunday, July 19, 2015 (8:30AM to 5:30PM)

TOEFL Preperation Course

A 13 week course preparing students to take the paper-based, internet-based, and computer-based TOEFL test.

TOEFL Preparation classes are offered each semester. Class meets every Tuesday and Thursday from 6:30PM to 9:30PM.

  • Fall 2015 Dates: September 8 to November 12, 2015
  • Spring 2016 Dates: February 2 to April 14, 2016
  • Summer 2016 Dates: June 7 to July 28, 2016

Paper-based TOEFL Exam

Each semester the Towson ELC offere teh Paper-based TOEFL exam. This exam is only accepted at Towson University.

  • Summer 2015: Saturday, August 1
  • Fall 2015: Saturday, November 21
  • Spring 2016: Saturday, May 30
  • Summer 2016: Saturday, August 6

Accent Modification

This course will help reduce your accent and is ideal for business people, faculty, and students alike!  Classes are small and custom-tailored to individual needs.

To apply, complete an application and send in a $25 applicaiton fee.
