For students preparing for university admission, the ELC offers a TOEFL Preparation Course. The course is given several times a year and is open to students enrolled in ELC classes as well as to others interested in intensive TOEFL preparation. This evening course includes 40 hours of instruction during which students focus on in-depth study of the reading, listening, speaking, and writing components of the iBT TOEFL examination. Attention is paid to the integrated and critical thinking skills necessary for success.
Classes are offered on Tuesday and Thursday each semester from 6:30-9:00 pm.
Fees: $ 625 for the class; $50 application fee; NO activities fees. Health insurance and immunization records are required for all students attending any Towson University class.
The Institutional TOEFL Test (also referred to as the Paper Based TOEFL or PBT) is offered three times a year at the English Language Center. The institutional TOEFL score may be submitted by those students seeking admission to Towson University or the University of Baltimore. The exam is generally administered in April, July and November. Students planning to attend other schools should take the iBT or ask whether our Institutional TOEFL score will be accepted.
PARKING
If you have a car and you park on campus: You may ONLY park in the West Village Garage or at Towson Center - you must park in the OVERFLOW spaces. Be careful that you do NOT park in faculty, staff, or student parking. Park on the 3rd floor. Plus you MUST purchase a parking permit for the semester. Otherwise, you can park on a daily basis in Visitor Parking. Again, be careful to park in the Visitor Spaces NOT Commuter, Handicap, or Staff spaces. You will get a ticket if you do not park correctly.
Contact the ELC office for specific course dates and registration information.
