Physics, SUNY Fredonia (B.S.) AccomplishmentsAfter a career in radio and advanced degrees from Syracuse University, Dr. MacKerron came to then Towson State College in 1971. During his tenure at the university, he contributed to the development of the Mass Communication major broadcasting area which included putting FM radio station WCVT (now WTMD) on the air as an extracurricular activity for Mass Communication majors. He left WCVT to engage in the process of putting a university television station on the air, and, through his efforts, WMJF-TV, an F.C.C. licensed lower power television station (LPTV) went on the air in 1989. Dr. MacKerron has served as chapter advisor to the National Broadcasting Society (NBS), and as a national officer of the organization. He is an active member of the Broadcast Education Association (BEA), and frequently presents papers and appears on panels at the association's national conventions. He has twice been honored by the Towson University student government as an outstanding teaching and faculty advisor. He is currently serving as Chairperson of the Department of Electronic Media and Film.
