Assistant Professor Phone: 410-704-4275 LI 218F David Dayton has an A.B. in Creative Writing and Literary Criticism from the University of California at Santa Cruz, an M.A. in English Education from the University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez, and a Ph.D. in Technical Communication and Rhetoric from Texas Tech University.
He is a specialist in user-centered information design for technical and online communication and studies the rhetorical and social dynamics affecting the adoption and use of innovative information technologies.
In recent research, Dr. Dayton has investigated the impact of usability testing on a medium-size software company and the adoption of single-source content management by a company that makes automated building controls. Currently, he is researching the sociotechnical and communication factors affecting the spread of electronic health records among healthcare providers and consumers in the U.S.
His recent publications include articles in Technical Communication, Technical Communication Quarterly, and the Journal of Business and Technical Communication. |
