One of the major components of ENVS 491, Senior Seminar, is a class project. The goal of the project is for students to apply the skills and knowledge obtained through their academic studies to a real situation.

The most recent projects have involved the Towson campus.  For example, members of the Facility Management staff asked us to help them to develop a means whereby the costs of trash removal could be reduced.  We addressed this issue in 2001 and 2002. In 2001 the class completed a composting feasibility study.  In 2002 the class did an analysis of recycling activity on campus.  The project in 2003 involved landscape management and in 2004 the class looked at ways to reduce the electricity bill on campus.  In 2005 we went off campus and looked at challenges facing members of the local farm community.
