Tucker consulted Jonathan Lazar, Department of Computer and Information
Sciences, about "techno-rage, a form of anger that is particularly
prevalent this week in the wake of one of the most high-tech Christmases
ever." Lazar observed that techno toys can actually reduce
the quality of life. "A lot of digital cameras, hand-held devices,
are designed to make you mad," he said. "These things
can actually raise your blood pressure."

Shulack, director of admissions, and Lonnie McNew, associate vice
president for enrollment services, about the university's offer
of automatic admission and at least a $4,000 scholarship to all
Baltimore public school students to graduate in the top 10 percent
of their class. "We're trying to be good neighbors, and we
hope that [the program] will
improve our diversity
on campus," said Shulack.
