Jazz pianist Cyrus Chestnut is first in exciting entertainment lineup

What? TU's Summer Performing Arts Series gets under way with Atlantic Records recording artist Cyrus Chestnut and his trio. Chestnut, a Baltimore native, has worked with Wynton Marsalis, Betty Carter and other high-profile jazz musicians. Reserve your tickets now for this homecoming performance.

Meet TVNewser Brian Stelter, Times' Newest Web Turk

Michael Calderone reported on recent graduate Brian Stelter's transition from blogger and Towerlight editor to a post at The New York Times beginning July 23. Stelter said he based his decision to take The Times' offer in part because other Young Turks are making their names in print and online there—though most have a few years on the 21-year-old TU alumnus.

Reporter Laura Barnhardt spoke to Kit Spicer, College of Fine Arts and Communication, about the future of TU's popular, 26-year-old Children's Dance Division. Spicer said the program is so successful, "it's too big at the moment for us to support." He said a parent advisory group is being formed to talk about such options as scaling back some offerings or movng off campus.

Bartlett says he is leaving White House

Reporter Ken Herman sought out Martha Kumar, Department of Political Science, after Dan Bartlett, one of President George W. Bush's longest-serving, most-trusted and closest aides, resigned. Bartett's value to Bush is beyond measure and possibly irreplaceable, Kumar said. "His leaving reduces the number of peple who can tell [Bush] what he may not want to hear."
