Ceremony to launch work on College of Liberal Arts Building 
What? Groundbreaking ceremony for the first phase of construction for the 250,000-square-foot College of Liberal Arts Building, the first entirely new academic building to be erected on TU's campus in 30 years.
Who? Acting Provost James Clements will be master of ceremonies; speakers will include President Caret, Dean Terry Cooney and Connie Kihm '95.
When? Wednesday, Sept. 12, at 10 a.m.
Where? Near University Drive, opposite the lower level of the Towsontown Garage on the site formerly occupied by the Lida Lee Tall Building
Why?The College of Liberal Arts Building will set the standard for future campus projects. When completed in 2011, it will be the university's "public face" along Towsontown Boulevard.

New Take on Modern Jewish Women Writers

.Associate Editor Barbara Pash spoke to Evelyn Avery, Department of English, about her book, Modern Jewish Women Writers in America (Palgrave MacMillan), a new collection of essays that covers 20th-century and contemporary writers. Avery edited and wrote the introduction as well as two of the book's essays. She chose the scholars who contributed the other essays.
Ravens target female fans with 'Purple' launch

In a story about an interactive fan-generated club for female football fans, reporter Ryan Shaff noted that the Maryland Stadium Authority released a study by TU's Center for Applied Business and Economic Research and Sage Policy Group, Inc. showing that in 2006 the Ravens and M&T Bank Stadium supported 3,088 jobs that generated $100 million in Maryland personal income.
Breaux shines in debut
The Sun, Aug. 31
Reporter Ken Murray chronicled the debut of Tommy Breaux, a 6-foot-9 center for the Tiger basketball team, as a wide receiver on the Tiger football team. Breaux, who came to TU last year from Blinn (Texas) Junior College, made seven catches for 109 yards, helping the Tigers cash in a 20-10 season-opener victory over Central Connecticut.
