Planetarium program looks upward, outward for intelligent life

What? Search for Signs of Intelligent Life in the Universe, a planetarium program sponsored by the Department of Physics, Astronomy and Geoscience

Not-so-great expectations

Steven Phillips, Department of History, spoke to Greg Robb about Chinese President Hu Jintao’s visit to the United States, which has been postponed by the Hurricane Katrina relief effort. Robb noted that although China had taken small steps to create good will ahead of Hu’s visit, those steps are backfiring. Phillips called China’s currency move and aircraft purchases, “just a bunch of little policies to try to keep the fires from burning out of control.”
