David Dahl presented “Why Didn't I Think of That? Finding Innovation in Your Library” at the Association of College and Research Libraries 14th National Conference in Seattle. He received an ACRL scholarship to attend the conference.

Carrie Bertling, Claire Holmes and Carissa Tomlinson presented “Emerging Technologies Librarians: Flexible Definitions and Strong Connections” at the Association of College and Research Libraries 14th National Conference in Seattle.

David Dahl and Kay Kazinski presented “Making the Most with Microsoft: Using SharePoint as a Reference Portal” at the annual Computers in Libraries Conference in Crystal City, Va.

College of Business and Economics

Douglas N. Ross, Management, had his paper, ""Hybrids": A Practical Template for an Undergraduate Strategic Management Course," accepted for presentation at the 2009 Academy of Management Annual Meeting, August 7-11, in Chicago.

College of Education

Kami Patrizio, Instructional Leadership and Professional Devleopment, will publish an article, "Learning from Dumbledore's Pensieve: Metaphor as an Aid in Teaching Reflexivity in Qualitative Research," in Qualitative Research. She is also author of a chapter titled, "Pre-Service Candidates Looking at Student Work in a Professional Development School Setting" in the Association for Teacher Educators’ Teacher Education Yearbook XVII: Teacher Learning in Small Group Settings.

College of Fine Arts and Communication

Jean Miller, Art, spent two days at the National Arts Advocacy Summit in Washington, D.C., as an arts advocate for Maryland, the College Art Association (CAA), and TU. The summit's theme was ART = JOBS.

Bridget Sullivan, Art, has an solo exhibition of her mixed-media digital work, Watershed, at Baltimore's School 33 Art Center, Members Gallery, through Apr. 11. Sullivan provides her viewers with intimate views of nature using photography and scanography while using water-based pastels to draw and write directly on her large digital prints.

College of Health Professions

Three CHP faculty members presented to the American Society on Aging/National Council on Aging (ASA/NCOA) Joint Conference in Las Vegas over spring break.  

Donna Wagner, Gerontology, was honored with the ASA Award for her dedication to AGHE (Association for Gerontology in Higher Education), ASA, and the OWL (Older Womens League). She and Donna Cox, Health Science, presented together on a research project involving MD Senior Centers.

Lisa Ann Fagan, Occupational Therapy, presented on  Design Factors that Promote Health and Well-being.

College of Liberal Arts

Tara Bynum, English, has been selected to participate in the 2009 NEH Summer Institute, "Slaves, Soldiers, Rebels: Currents of Black Resistance in the Tropical Atlantic, 1760-1888," at the Johns Hopkins University. 

Ping Fu, Foreign Languages, presented a paper titled "A Filmic Response: Dialectic Citizenship, Cultural Capital, and Olympic Rhetoric" at the annual conference of the Association for Asian Studies in Chicago, March 26-29.

Fisher College of Science and Mathematics

Ryan Casey, Chemistry, coauthored the following publication: Camponelli, K.M., Casey, R.E., Snodgrass, J.W., Lev, S.M., Landa, E.R., 2009, “Impacts of weathered tire debris on the development of Rana sylvatica larvae,” Chemosphere, 74: 717-722. Kim Camponelli was a thesis M.S. student in environmental science.

Sarah Haines, Biological Sciences/Center for Science and Mathematics Education (CSME), represented the CSME at the annual Mid-Atlantic Conservation Education meeting held at Kings Gap State Park, Carlisle, Pa.
