George C. Georgiou, Economics, gave the Keynote Address "The Current Great Recession: Some Lessons from History" at The Bankruptcy Bar Association for the District of Maryland Annual Conference, May 1-2, in Annapolis, Md.

College of Fine Arts and Communication

Richard Vatz, Mass communication and Communication Studies, is the recipient of the first Student Government Association Faculty Member of the Year award. The award was created by the 2008-2009 SGA "to recognize a faculty member who not only challenges and pushes students in the classroom, but a faculty member who contributes to the Towson community as a whole."

, Psychology, and Rita D. Marinho, Women's Studies, co-authored "Designing an Academic Building for 21st Century Learning: A Dean's Guide," which appears in the May/June issue of CHANGE: The Magazine of Higher Learning. The magazine is under the editorial leadership of the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. 

Fisher College of Science and Mathematics

John LaPolla, Biological Sciences, recently published “Taxonomic Revision of the Southeast Asian Ant Genus Euprenolepis” in Zootaxa 2046.

Yeong-Tae Song, Computer and Information Science, is organizing the first international workshop on Enterprise Architecture Challenges and Responses (WEACR 2009) in conjunction with SNPD2009. It will be held May 27-29, 2009 at Daegu, Korea. The proceedings will be
published by IEEE. Song will be presenting a paper titled: “Service Evaluation in SOA: Toward Business/IT
Alignment.”
