LaTonya Dyer, Greg Primrose, Venus McDonald, Lyn Kimmel, Dineli Weerasooriya, Brenda Yarema and Lynn Ray, OTS, recently participated in Career Day at the Arundel Elementary/Middle School in the Cherry Hill area as part of the TU Cherry Hill Trust agreement. Student classes age kindergarten through eighth grade visited with many community organizations to learn about preparing for their future careers. But it was the OTS table that drew the most activity, as students not only heard about technology but also were able to experience technology hands on. They were able to touch disk drives, time internet packets traveling around the world and look into the world of Second Life. OTS team members shared with students what they liked best about their technology jobs and how to prepare for these jobs. While the occupational plans of students ranged from rapper to basketball star to doctor, the OTS team related the importance of technology in all occupations. During individual interviews about their respective roles in technology, team members stressed the importance of excelling in math, reading and science.
