Wendy Stav, Occupational Therapy, has been invited to be an expert on the U.S. Department of Defense Center of Excellence for Driving after Head Injury for wounded soldiers.

Geoff Becker, English, published four stories over the summer: This is Not a Bar," The Cincinnati Review ; "Imaginary Tucson," Shenandoah; "The Naked Man," Gettysburg Review ; and "Black Days," New England Review.

Alan Marcus, Georgraphy and Environmental Panning, published an article, “(Re)Creating Places and Spaces in Two Countries: Brazilian Transnational Migration Processes.” in the Journal of Cultural Geography, Vol. 26, No. 2, June 2009, 173-198.

Jeremy Tasch, Geography and Environmental Planning, was awarded a U.S. Embassy Policy Specialist Grant to provide policy consulting to the U.S. Embassy in Azerbajan this summer. He is also part of a three-person team that was awarded—pending the official allocation of funds—a two-year National Science Foundation Grant that involves five nations and four universities.

Fisher College of Science and Mathematics

Xuezhang (John) Hou, Mathematics, learned that his article, “An Optimal Control for a Flexible Euler-Bernoulli Beam,” has been accepted for publication in the Journal of System Science and Information.

Gail Kaplan, Mathematics, has learned that her paper, “Honors Seminar: A Creative Interdisciplinary Approach for Student Exploration,” has been accepted for the Bridges Conference Proceedings, 2009.
