Terry Berkeley, Early Childhood Education, was inducted into The Citadel's School of Education Wall of Fame on Sept. 22. The Wall of Fame honors Citadel graduates and others who have distinguished themselves as educators or as champions of public education. During the past 30 years, Berkeley has been a university professor, a researcher, a consultant for several governmental and non-governmental organizations, an advocate for children and families in several states and state legislatures, an adviser to Congress and to ministries of education in several countries. Especially noteworthy is his participation on the National Education Goals Panel in the Executive Office of the President of the United States

Nitza Nachmias, Political Science, reports that Capella University in Minneapolis will use her article,“The Mutual Dependence Model: The Case of the Palestinian NGOs,” in a new Ph.D.-level course in its nonprofit management and leadership program.The article discusses the dependence of governments on NGOs for the delivery of social services, and on the other hand the dependence of NGOs on governments for funding and other resources.The article was presented at a 2008 Annual Meeting of the International Society for Third Sector Research and was published in the conference proceedings.
