From the editor

Welcome to the inaugural issue of Insider, TU's weekly faculty/stafff newsletter. We hope you'll find that it delivers the news and information you want in a straightforward, easy-to-navigate format.

Insider will consist primarily of reader-contributed news, with editorial oversight provided by University Relations. It's a work in progress, and we'll continue to refine it in response to your needs.

Coming soon to Insider: Research News, an up-to-date list of grants, awards and other research-related information linked to the University Research Services Web site.

Insider will be e-mailed weekly while classes are in session, with monthly issues during June, July and August.

Submission guidelines

• For the Kudos sections, Insider seeks seeks news of recent (post July 1) faculty/staff presentations, publications, honors, promotions, community service, etc.
• Kudos submissions should include the submitter’s name, department and any applicable links. We will edit for length and/or university style if necessary.   
• Faculty kudos must first be reviewed by the submitter's dean or his/her designee.
• Staff submissions may be e-mailed directly to the editor.                                                   
• Kudos will not report on ongoing research or other work in progress. However, University Relations remains very interested in promoting such projects via Web content or media pitches.

Blogs:  We’d like to showcase faculty or staff members' blogs, especially those accessible to readers outside their disciplines.

Spotlights: Insider seeks short (circa 350 words) essays about academic initiatives or partnerships under way on campus.  

Photos: E-mail timely photos and captions for Insider's Photo of the Week to jlucas@towson.edu.
