Carl B. Schmidt, Music, announces that his four-volume study Écrits sur la musique de Georges Auric/Writings on Music by Georges Auric was published in September by The Edwin Mellen Press (Lewiston/Queenston/Lampeter). The volumes contain the bulk of Auric's critical writings in French on music and film.The project was supported by two grants from the Faculty Research Committee and a sabbatical leave

Fisher College of Science and Mathematics

Felice Shore and Linda Cooper, Mathematics, had their paper, “Mapping the Race to the White House: Multiple Representations of Election Results,” accepted for publication in Mathematics Teaching in the Middle School, published by the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics.

Jane Wolfson, Environmental Science and Studies, was asked to assist at the Baltimore Ecosystem Study Teachers’ Institute, which is part of a larger Baltimore Partnership for Environmental Literacy. Her efforts were directed to helping a group of teachers develop a biodiversity sampling plan along an urban rural gradient.

Marius Zimand, Computer and Information Sciences, is the author of a paper, “Two sources are better than one for increasing the Kolmogorov complexity of infinite sequences,” that has been accepted for publication in the journal Theory of Computing Systems, special issue dedicated to selected papers from the conference CSR 2008.The paper is already available in the journal's electronic edition.
