Xuezhang Hou, Mathematics, was invited and appointed as a member of the Program Committee and a Session Chair of Robotics of 2009 IEEE International Conference on Automation and Logistics in Shenyang, China. His research paper, “An Optimal Energy Control for a Flexible Robot Arm,” was presented at the conference and published in Proceedings of the IEEE International Conference on Automation and Logistics (2009), pp 275-277.

Jonathan Lazar, Heidi Feng and Harry Hochheiser, Computer and  Information Sciences, submitted the final version of their textbook, Research Methods in Human-Computer Interaction, to the publisher. The book will be published by John Wiley & Sons in January 2010.

Jane Wolfson, Environmental Science and Studies, was
asked to assist at the Baltimore Ecosystem Study Teachers’ Institute, which is part of a larger Baltimore Partnership for Environmental Literacy. Her efforts were directed to helping a group of teachers develop a biodiversity sampling plan along an urban rural gradient.
