College of Education
Jeffrey M. Kenton, Educational Technology and Literacy, joined the College of Education’s administrative office as assistant dean on Aug. 31.His responsibilities include accreditation and assessment, and coordinating the college’s graduate programming, marketing and commencement efforts. He brings extensive experience in the fields of educational assessment and technology integration to his new position. For the past five years he directed the master’s program in instructional technology in the Department of Educational Technology and Literacy.
College of Fine Arts and Communication
Carl B. Schmidt, Music, announces the publication of his article,“The Unknown Randall Thompson: ‘Honkeytonk Tunesmith, Broadway Ivory-Tickler’,” in American Music 27 (Fall 2009). His research was assisted by a Towson University sabbatical leave, travel grant, and a grant from the Faculty Research Committee.
College of Liberal Arts
Paul Douglas, English, delivered a paper, "A World of Visual Things," at the annual conference of the Communal Studies Association, which was held this year at the site of a 19th century commune in Aurora, Ore.
Fisher College of Science and Mathematics
Sarah Haines, Biological Sciences, had five book reviews published on the National Science Teachers Association website “NSTA Recommends.” The following titles appear on the site: Green Planet: How Plants Keep the Earth Alive, Teaching Green: The High School Years, Bears: A Year in the Life, Changing Materials: Changing Shape, and Changing Materials:Cooling. \
Robert Hammell, Computer and Information Sciences, and doctoral student Anthony Barnes had their paper, “Development of a Decision System to Aid Project Managers in Determining Information Technology Project Status,” published and presented as part of the IEEE International Conference on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics, held October 11-14 in San Antonio.
