Dong-Qing Yao, Management, Nanyun Zhang, Economics, had their article, "Contract Design for Supply Chain Quality Management," accepted last August by the International Journal of Value Chain Management (OJVCM), 3 (2).
College of Education
Sharon Pitcher, Educational Technology and Literacy, Elizabeth Dicembre, Educational Technology and Literacy, and Darlene Fewster, Special Education, presented at the Coalition of Urban and Metropolitan Universities (CUMU) conference in Cincinnati. The research focused on case studies of seven adolescents who attended the TU Reading Clinic in Spring 2008, comparing the teens' literacy needs with the education they are receiving in schools. Part of the presentation included how this research would be shared with neighboring school systems. Gilda Martinez, Educational Technology and Literacy, and Montana McCormick, Secondary Education, also contributed to the presentation.
College of Fine Arts and Communication
Jean Miller, Art + Design, Art History, Art Education, chaired the Professional Practices Committee’s Master of Fine Arts Standard Review for the College Art Association. Colleagues from Washington University in St. Louis, Western Michigan University and other institutions contributed to the review by invitation. The new standard appears on the College Art Association Web site as the recommendation for best practices for the terminal degree in the studio arts disciplines.Miller is 2008 president of National Council of Art Administrators.
Nora Sturges, Art + Design + Art History, has paintings featured in the summer issue of the Georgia Review.
College of Liberal Arts
Margaret Benner, Writing Support Program, says the program's Online Writing Support Web site has now exceeded 250,000 hits.
Carol Quinn, English, reports that the journal Pleiades has taken her poem, "Old Mattresses," and the journal Ecopoetics has taken her poems, "Dog Star" and "Cure."
Fisher College of Science and Mathematics
Harald Beck, Biological Sciences, has been elected associate editor for the Journal of Mammalogy.
Geoff Goodson. Mathematics, had his paper, “Canonical Forms for Normal Matrices That Commute With Their Complex Conjugate,” (written jointly with Roger Horn) accepted for publication in Linear Algebra and Applications.
Siddharth Kaza, Computer and Information Sciences, presented “Identifying Significant Facilitators of Social-network Evolution” at the annual meeting of INFORMS, Washington, D.C., Oct 12-15.
