End of Semester Information

Instructors:
As a semester is coming to an end, there are a few steps you must take to properly maintain your Blackboard course sites. The steps and resources are outlined below:

You are REQUIRED to do one of the following :

•  Reusing: If you plan on using the same course site for an upcoming semester please fill out the Course Site Maintenance form and specify which future semester you will be using it for.

•  Copying: If you need course site materials from an existing course for an additional section or different course fill out the Course Site Request form.

•  Removing: If you no longer plan to teach this course or no longer plan to teach at the university fill out the Course Site Maintenance form and select Archive Off Site. You are also required to create a back up of your course site before it is removed from the system.


Required for Reusing or Copying:

1. Set availability in your course site to Unavailable

2. Save a backup of your course site (and gradebook , if necessary).

3. Remove students and clear statistics from your course site.

DIRECTIONS:

Set availability :

Step 1: In your course site, go to the Control Panel.

Step 2: Click "Settings" (under the heading "Course Options").

Step 3: Click "Course Availability."

Step 4: Under "Do you want this course available to users?" select "No".

Step 5: Click the "Submit" button.

Backing up a course site :

Step 1: From the Control Panel, select “Archive Course” (Under the heading “Course Options”).

Step 2: Click the “Submit” button.

Step 3: Click on the "Click the right mouse button and select Save As" link to download the archive file to your computer.

Backing up your gradebook :

Step 1: From the Control Panel, select “Gradebook” (under the “Assessment” heading).

Step 2: Click on “Download Grades.”

Step 3: Select “Comma” and click “submit.”

Step 4: Click the “Download” button and save the file to your local computer.

Remove Students and clear Course Statistics from your course site :
** WARNING: This will PERMANENTLY remove all gradebook, digital drop box, and file exchange entries for these students.

Step 1: From the Control Panel, click on "Recycle Course" (under “Course Options”).

Step 2: Check the box next to "Users and Statistics."

Step 3: Type "Remove" in the designated field.

Step 4: Click "Submit."
