THE FISHER SCHOLARSHIP AWARDEES

September, 2008

We are pleased to announce the following students have been awarded a Jess Fisher FCSM Scholarship in Memory of Cecilia Fisher Rudman: Ms. Evelyn Kubik, Ms. Emily Graff, Mr. Jordan Swearer, Mr. Steven Whitt, Mr. Hong Weng Pang, Ms. Danielle Woolson and Ms. Kelly Sennett.

  • Evelyn Kubik will graduate from Francis Scott Key High School and enroll as a Biological Sciences major at Towson in the Fall. She is planning a career in environmental biology.
  • Emily Graff is a senior at Perry Hall High School and plans to major in Mathematics Secondary Education. When finished, she plans to pass on her knowledge and love of mathematics as a secondary school teacher.
  • Jordan Swearer is graduating from Howard High School and will be a Computer Science major at Towson University. After graduation he would like to work in the areas of networking or robotics, and move into a leadership position in one of these fields.
  • Steven Whitt is a senior at Smithburg High School and plans to major in Biological Sciences. After completing his degree at Towson University, he plans to continue either in graduate school or medical school.
  • Hong Weng Pang will graduate from Baltimore Polytechnic High School and enroll in Towson University as a Biological Sciences major. While at Towson he plans to also be in the PreMedical Program; and after graduation, continue on in medical school.
  • Danielle Woolson is a senior at Triton Regional High School in New Jersey and will be a Forensic Chemistry major at Towson University. She would like to become a specialist in ballistics or fire investigation and work in a crime lab at the state or federal level.
  • Kelly Sennett is graduating from Bel Air High School and enroll at Towson University as a Chemistry major in the PrePharmacy Program. Upon finishing this program, she plans to go to pharmacy school and have a rewarding career as a pharmacist.

We also are pleased to announce the following students have been awarded a Jess Fisher Pre-Engineering Scholarship in Memory of Robert M. Fisher: Ms. Jessica Shuff, Mr. Keith Fung, Mr. Panagiotis Koliais, Mr. John Vitucci, Ms. Kyra Crafton and Mr. Michael Davis.

  • Jessica Shuff will graduate from North Hagerstown High School and enroll as a Mathematics major at Towson University in the Fall. After finishing at Towson, she plans to enter a graduate program in material engineering.
  • Keith Fung is currently a dual degree Physics and Engineering major at Towson University. After graduation he plans to go to graduate school for a masters degree in electrical engineering, and then work in a design area where he will be able to turn ideas and concepts into real life objects.
  • Panagiotis Koliais is majoring in Physics at Towson University and is a Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) leader on campus. After graduating from Towson he plans to continue for an advanced degree in Physics and engineering, and then pursue a career in aeronautical engineering.
  • John Vitucci is enrolled in the Applied Physics Pre-Engineering track at Towson University, and he plans to pursue a Ph.D. in the dual degree program either at the University of Maryland or Pennsylvania State University. After completing his academic degrees, John hopes to work in aerospace engineering for NASA or Goddard Space Center.
  • Kyra Crafton is currently a pre-engineering student in the Department of Biological Sciences at Towson University. After graduation from Towson she plans to continue on for a Ph.D. degree in biomedical engineering. Kyra also wants to start a non-profit student help agency.
  • Michael Davis is majoring in Applied Physics at Towson University, and he plans to earn a Masters degree in aeronautical engineering after completing his undergraduate degree. Michael feels that his work in physics and mathematics will give him the tools to look at problems in engineering from a fresh perspective.


September, 2007

Sarah Kutzberger   Douglas Parker
Sarah Kutzberger has been awarded the second Jess Fisher FCSM Scholarship. Sarah is a studying applied mathematics in the Department of Mathematics.   Douglas Parker has been awarded the second Jess Fisher Pre-Engineering Scholarship. Doug would like to pursue a career in Computer and Information Sciences.

Jonathan Graf   Rachel Hunter
Jonathan Graf has been awarded the first Jess Fisher FCSM Scholarship. Jonathan is a budding mathematician who is enjoying his academic career in the Department of Mathematics at Towson University.   Rachel Hunter has been awarded the first Jess Fisher Pre-Engineering Scholarship. Rachel would like to pursue a career in Electrical Engineering, perhaps one day “designing quality sound equipment for various private and professional venues.”
