Environmental Science and Studies Program
The curriculum in the undergraduate and graduate programs in Environmental Science and Studies are multidisciplinary because most environmental problems resist solution from any single discipline. Students in these programs develop the scientific, technical, and policy knowledge needed to address environmental problems at local, regional, and national scales.
Molecular Biology, Biochemistry and Bioinformatics (MB3) Program
The curriculum in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, and Bioinformatics (MB3) provides students the ability to concentrate their studies in rapidly expanding, modern areas of study that have revolutionized fields such as biomedical science, chemistry, environmental science, and agriculture. The MB3 program prepares students to enter the workforce or to continue their education in graduate school or professional programs through a combination of traditional classes and a strong emphasis of hands-on participation in real world activities such as faculty mentored undergraduate research.
If you are an undergraduate who wants to teach mathematics or science, the Towson UTeach program is for you. The Towson UTeach program is a new way to prepare secondary science and mathematics teachers through an advanced, field-intensive curriculum. Teaching degree plans are streamlined to allow students to complete both a Bachelor of Science degree and all course work for middle and high school teacher certification in Maryland in four years.
The study of animal behavior has received an increasing amount of attention from the public because of the emphasis placed by zoological parks on behavioral biology and the large number of presentations in the media regarding animal behavior and sociobiology. The Animal Behavior Concentration of the Interdisciplinary Studies major is designed to offer a solid foundation in the diverse approaches used to study behavioral biology.
