2000 — 2009

Steve Tse ‘05 – Chemistry
Mr. Steve Tse has a fellowship and is pursuing a Ph.D. degree at Stanford in Physical Chemistry and Chemical Physics.

Anthony Calise ‘02 – Mathematics
Mr. Anthony Calise and his wife Katie announce the birth of their first child, Elizabeth Lynn, on June 27, 2007. The family lives in Perry Hal, Maryland.

Angela Scott ‘01 – Biology
Ms. Angela Scott and her husband welcomed their second daughter, Courtney, into their family on June 26. Courtney joins her older sister Alexis, who is 3 yrs old.

Desmond A. Kaplan ‘01 – Chemistry
Dr. Desmond A. Kaplan is currently a research scientist working at Bruker Daltonics, one of the leading mass spectrometry companies. Dr. Kaplan earned his Ph.D. in April 2006 from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and he has been doing research in new mass spectrometry technologies for Bruker Daltonics. He is a co-author of a recently published article in Rapid Communications in Mass Spectrometry 22 [3], 271–278, 2008.

Brian McDowell ‘01 – Chemistry
Dr. Brian McDowell will be finishing his postdoctoral position in Medicinal Chemistry and has recently accepted a scientific position with the Federal Government.

Susan Bubb Wiley ‘01 – Mathematics
Mrs. Susan Bubb Wiley and her husband, Kevin, announced the birth of Kate Victoria, born on March 16, 2006. Kate weighed 7 pounds 8 ounces and was 19 inches tall. The family is living in Harford County, Maryland.


1990 — 1999

Mary Ann Krug Maurer ‘99 – Biology
Dr. Mary Ann Krug Maurer has graduated from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine on June 3, 2007 earning her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree.

Gabe Goldhirsh ‘98 – Computer Science
Mr. Gabe Goldhirsh has earned his M.S. Degree in Computer Science from Johns Hopkins University.

Jeremy Carlino ‘96 – Mathematics
Mr. Jeremy Carlino was honored as Maryland's Mathematics Teacher of the Year in 2006. Mr. Carlino teaches AP Calculus and algebra at Eastern technical High School.

Charles Zimmerman ‘96 – Mathematics
Mr. Charles Zimmerman and Lori (Smell) Zimmerman '95 would like to announce the birth of their second child, Charles D. Zimmerman V. Charles V was born on August 25, 2006 weighing 8lbs, 11 ozs and 20.5 inches long. Older sister Elise (2 yrs old) is very proud of her baby brother and is excited to teach him all about the Towson Tigers.

Billy Short, Jr. ‘95 – Chemistry
After 10 more years of service in the United States Marine Corp and service in Iraq, Major Billy Short, Jr. completed a M.S. in Chemistry. He is stationed at the Office of Naval Research directing explosive detection programs, advanced body armor and ballsitic helmet research, high powered microwave programs, and all USMC science and technology efforts against landmines and roadside bomb threats.

David Flosser ‘94 – Chemistry
Dr. David Flosser graduated from Penn State with a Ph.D. in chemistry in 2001. He currently works for the Merichem Company in Houston, Texas. David and his wife welcomed their first child, Nathaniel, into the world on September 28, 2007.


1980 — 1989

Gregg Wolff ‘83 – Biology
The 2007 recipient of the FCSM Dean’s Recognition Award, Dr. Gregg Wolff is an orthopedic surgeon in Cumberland, Maryland and has the distinction of being the only fellowship trained sports medicine physician in Western Maryland.  Dr. Wolff has been a member of the U.S. Navy reserve since 1989.

William R. Jones ’82 – Chemistry
Dr. William Jones is an officer for the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in College Park, Maryland.  He received his Ph.D. from UMBC in Molecular and Cellular Biology in 1989.  Dr. Jones is the 2001/2002 recipient of the Fisher College of Science and Mathematics Dean’s Recognition Award.

Mark P. Becker ’80 – Mathematics
Dr. Mark Becker is the 2005 recipient of the Fisher College of Science and Mathematics Dean’s Recognition Award.  Since 2004 he has served as Provost at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, South Carolina.  Dr. Becker established an endowment at TU in honor of his mother.


1970 — 1979

George Famini ’78 – Chemistry
Dr. George Famini is the 2006 recipient of the Fisher College of Science and Mathematics Dean’s Recognition Award.  He currently serves as the Director of Chemical Security Analysis for the Department of Homeland Security at Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland.

John Noble ’76 – Mathematics
Mr. John Noble received his M.A. in Mathematics from Penn State University in August of 1980. He was hired by the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory in November of 1980, and was promoted to Principal Staff in June of 2004.

David M. Lucantoni ’76 – Mathematics
Dr. David Lucantoni is the president of DLT Consulting in New Jersey.  DLT Consulting provides technical consulting services to clients worldwide.  Dr. Lucantoni has received the IEEE Communications Society best paper award in 1987 and received the Lucent Patent Recognition Award in 2000.

Robert Frisby ’74 – Biology
Mr. Robert Frisby is a 27 year veteran and CAPTAIN in the U.S. Navy Dental Corps, and he has recently returned from a one year tour of duty in Okinawa, Japan with the 3rd Dental Battalion, 3rd Force Service Support Group, Fleet Marine Force, Pacific. He is presently assigned to the Naval Medical Center San Diego. He, with his wife, Dr. Yvonne L. Marzett-Frisby have called San Diego home for the last 15 years. They have two daughters.

Bonnie Luepkes ’73 – Biology
Ms. Bonnie Luepkes was named the Educator of the Year for the 2003–2004 school year by the Maryland State Parent -Teacher Association. She has taught for over 30 years, mainly at Atholton High School; the same high school she graduated from in 1969. Currently she is teaching Advanced Placement Biology, Anatomy; Physiology, and Forensic Science. Ms. Luepkes also is the chairperson of the science department.

Linda H. Rosenberg ’73 – Mathematics
Dr. Linda Rosenberg serves as the Chief Scientist for Software Assurance for Goddard Space Flight Center, NASA in the Office of Systems Safety and Mission Assurance Directorate and is the former division chief of the Software Assurance Technology Office.

Alfred Sciuto ’72 & ’79 – Biology
Dr. Alfred Sciuto received both his bachelor's and master's degrees from Towson University in the field of Biology. He currently works as a physiologist/toxicologist for the US Department of Defense.  Dr. Sciuto is the 2003 recipient of the Fisher College of Science and Mathematics Dean’s Recognition Award.

Charles E. Barkley ’72 – Mathematics
A long-serving delegate in the Maryland General Assembly, Mr. Charles Barkley has been an active supporter of Towson University, attending alumni events as well as the annual Annapolis Alumni Reception.  Charles is the 1999 recipient of the Fisher College of Science and Mathematics Dean’s Recognition Award.

Arthur A. Shellhouse ’67 – Biology
Mr. Arthur Shellhouse is the 2004 recipient of the Fisher College of Science and Mathematics Dean’s Recognition Award.  He serves as the President of Nutshell Enterprises Ltd. in Jarrettsville, Maryland.
