Promoting Engineering Education in Elementary Schools and Clubs — The PEEESC Program

The Summer Engineering and Science Club at the Havre de Grace Unit of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Harford County

Since the summer of 2008, Dr. Lottero-Perdue has led the Summer Engineering and Science (SEAS) Club as part of the Summer Fun Club at the Havre de Grace Unit of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Harford County. The purposes of this club are to:

  • extend the science, technology, and engineering education of elementary children;
  • examine how children respond to Engineering is Elementary (EiE; www.mos.org/eie) units of instruction, some of which will be used in Harford County Public Schools; and
  • learn how children think about science, technology and engineering prior to and after club instruction.

Each year the SEAS Club emphasises different aspects of engineering and science.
