Why Earn a Master's Degree in Mathematics Education?

The program is designed to ensure that certified middle and high school teachers meet and surpass the standards set by the No Child Left Behind Act while preparing to advance their careers. Many graduates go on to leadership positions in mathematics education as master teachers, curriculum developers and mathematics supervisors.

As a master's degree student, you will choose one of two tracks:

  • Middle school track designed for current and future middle school mathematics teachers who are certified to teach at the elementary school level.
  • Secondary school track designed for certified secondary mathematics teachers with a strong background in mathematics. Graduates are prepared to become master teachers, curriculum developers, mathematics supervisors, and step into other positions of leadership.
