2009 FCSM STAFF PERFORMANCE AWARD
The recipient of the Staff Performance Award came to Towson University in the 1990s after a number of years of previous experience in both educational and governmental institutions. The first thing that struck me about this person was that virtually the entire department supported and signed the nomination. This letter emphasized “The truly remarkable thing is his willingness to go above and beyond. This staff member makes a point of meeting with new faculty to help familiarize them with the procedures and to ensure that things will go smoothly.”
And not only does our recipient help people in the department, he is praised by members of other departments for taking time from an already busy schedule to help them with matters that are not part of the job description. The nominators wrote that this person is often asked to do things at the very last moment, and even then the job is always done efficiently and with a smile.
Our recipient exhibits dedication, efficiency, and always a smile in ensuring the smooth operation of the department. In closing, one of the nominators wrote “His willingness to help out in a pinch really sets this staff member apart.”
The last thing I noticed is that unlike our previous Staff Performance Awardees, this year’s awardee does not give out candy.
For dedication, hard work and invaluable contributions to the smooth functioning of the Department of Chemistry, the 2009 Staff Performance award goes to Mr. Rodney Dixon.
