Inspiring Student Exploration in Science and Mathematics for the 21st Century

The Fisher College of Science and Mathematics provides excellent undergraduate and post-baccalaureate graduate education in the sciences and mathematics. At the undergraduate level we have outstanding B.S. degree programs in biology, chemistry, computer and information sciences, geology, forensic chemistry, mathematics, and physics, as well as interdisciplinary B.S. degree programs in environmental science and studies, and in molecular biology, biochemistry, and bioinformatics. Our undergraduate programs for preparing STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) teachers lead the region, and have a national reputation as well because of our new Towson UTeach Program for preparing high school STEM teachers.

Research experiences are an important aspect of a well-rounded undergraduate education in the natural and mathematical sciences. A wide variety of undergraduate research experiences, both at Towson University and nationwide, are available to our students. For more information see our website on

At the graduate level we have M.S. degree programs in applied information technology, biology, computer science, applied and industrial mathematics, environmental science, forensic science, and mathematics education. We also offer a doctoral program in information technology.

Our graduates are well prepared to respond creatively to the challenges of the future. Science and mathematics are increasingly important in determining the road to the future as technology changes our world. The Fisher College of Science and Mathematics is building that road through our distinctive, student-oriented teaching and learning environment, and acclaimed undergraduate student research programs that offer students the opportunity to learn science by doing science. Through internships and research experiences, our students gain practical experience in the workplace that often lead directly to employment upon graduation.

Our School of Emerging Technologies focuses on innovative, interdisciplinary, and emerging uses of technology, and it includes a strong emphasis on faculty/student research opportunities, a Towson hallmark.

So, what do you want to be and where do you  see yourself in 10 years, or 15, or 20?  A molecular biologist working to cure a crippling disease, a forensic chemist performing DNA analysis or post-bomb investigations in a crime laboratory, a computer and cyber security specialist, a science or mathematics teacher, a materials scientist developing nanorobots, a medical doctor or dentist, an actuarial scientist studying risk management, an astrophysicist studying the properties of quasars and black holes? Your opportunities are boundless, and the potential for satisfying and rewarding careers nearly limitless. Come join us in the Fisher College of Science and Mathematics!
