Robert Noyce Scholarship Program

Program Eligibility and Criteria

Eligibility

An eligible TU Robert Noyce undergraduate scholarship candidate must:

• Be a full-time student.
• Have junior-level or senior-level standing.
• Have a declared major in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM).
• Be planning to pursue teaching certification for science or mathematics through TU’s College of Education.

An eligible TU Robert Noyce graduate stipend candidate must:

• Be a matriculated, graduate-level student.
• Hold a completed bachelor’s degree or higher in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics.
• Not be certified to teach.
• Be enrolled in the MAT program through TU’s College of Education.

Criteria:

• Have, preferably, a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Be a U.S. citizen or national or permanent resident alien.
• Be a junior, senior, or graduate STEM student.
• Be enrolled (or plan to transfer to and enroll) at TU in an approved education certification program as a junior, a senior or a graduate student.
• Provide three signed and sealed TU Noyce Confidential Letters of Recommendation from teachers, professors or employers.
• Submit a written personal narrative statement.
• Provide a signed Master Promissory Note.
• Provide a signed National Science Foundation – Towson University Robert Noyce Scholarship/Stipend Agreement.
• Complete the FAFSA form.

Robert Noyce scholars are responsible for ensuring that the school districts in which they plan to teach qualify as high need under the National Science Foundation guidelines. Scholars are highly encouraged to complete their teaching requirements in Maryland.
