POST-BACCALAUREATE PREMEDICAL/PREDENTAL PROGRAM

Planning for a Career as a Physician or a Dentist?

Physics LaserFor students whose career goals shifted to medicine or dentistry following completion of the bachelor's degree, the Post-Baccalaureate Premedical/Predental Program at Towson University provides an opportunity to complete the undergraduate science and mathematics courses necessary for application to medical or dental schools.  The program is designed for students who majored in a non-science area or majored in science but did not take the courses required to prepare them for admission to professional school. It is not a remedial program but is designed to attract outstanding pre-professional candidates who have not previously submitted applications to medical or dental schools or taken the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) or Dental Admission Test (DAT).

The program has been designed for completion by a full-time student in 12 to 14 months. It includes the science courses required for admission to most medical and dental schools in the United States. All courses are taught by Towson University faculty.  Classes are small with laboratory sections rarely exceeding 24 students.  Classroom and laboratory facilities are excellent.  In addition to formal course work, post baccalaureate students are encouraged to obtain practical experience in a medical or dental setting before they apply to professional school.  This experience is invaluable in confirming an interest in the field and serves as an opportunity to interact with individuals with similar interests and goals.  Students who have not obtained such experience before entering Towson will be urged to acquire experience during the summer, on weekends or during the January minimester.
