
Bio:Barbara Demchick is a faculty member in the Department of Occupational Therapy and Occupational Science at Towson University. She has over 35 years of experience working as an occupational therapist with children and adolescents with developmental disabilities and their families. She has taught courses on occupational therapy with children and youth, first at the Community College of Baltimore County and then at Towson University, with an emphasis on the provision of family centered services. She has been involved with quality of life research with families with a son or daughter with a disability for the past 10 years at Towson University, and has participated in previous phases of research relative to families with children and youth on the autism spectrum and the autism waiver, which have led to this current research endeavor. Dr. Demchick will participate primarily in Study 2, where she will interview family members, as well as contribute to the analysis of the qualitative data obtained through the interview process. She and her research students are currently involved in piloting interview questions to be used for the study.
