Research Interests
My research interests are predominantly in the area of social epidemiology and family science. My interdisciplinary research uses multi-level public health and sociology theoretical frameworks to examine social factors and determinants that: 1) impact the health of families of colors, 2) promote healthy family functioning along the life course and particularly among intergenerational households, and 3) examine familial and community-level risk factors associated with poor health outcomes among families of color (particularly African American and Latino families). Additionally, I am committed to conducting community participatory research and exploring the collaborations and partnerships of universities with community-based organizations (CBOs), health institutions and human service agencies
