Students who wish to declare family and human services as their major must follow department procedures as well as general university procedures.
Department Procedures
The first step for students declaring the family and human services major is to attend a new major orientation with the department chairperson. Students can register for one of these sessions by either calling the family studies office at 410-704-5851 or coming into the office in the College of Liberal Arts Building, Suite 2210.
Prior to their orientation, students will receive new student documents via email. These need to be completed and brought to the orientation. At the meeting, the department chairperson will work with students to develop initial course plans. A course plan is an important tool used by family studies students to help them monitor their progress toward earning a degree. Following the orientation, each student will be assigned an academic adviser.
University Procedures
Following the completion of department procedures, students must complete university procedures. University change of major procedures are managed by the Office of the Registrar. Please follow the instructions found on their website
