Department Welcomes Dr. Sya Kedzior

Next Fall, Dr. Sya Buryn Kedzior will join the department. Dr. Kedzior specializes in South Asia and society-environment interrelationships. Her areas of expertise include environmental social movements, the politics of resource use, and urban water politics. One aspect of her doctoral research looked at how different groups thought about the causes of and solutions for Ganges River pollution. Dr. Kedzior completed her Ph.D. in Geography at the University of Kentucky in 2011 and has held teaching positions at Humboldt State University and Montana State University.
Promotions within the Department

Congratulations to our three faculty who will receive promotions effective Fall 2012. Drs. James Smith and Jeremy Tasch have been awarded tenure and will become Associate Professors. Dr. Charles Schmitz will advance to full Professor stats. From top to bottom at left, we have Dr. Schmitz, Dr. Tasch and Dr. Smith.
