TU Geography Society
The Towson University Geography Society (TUGS), better known as the Geography Club, is a "social-academic" club where like minded students may engage in geography related discussions and projects on and around campus. The club provides students many opportunities to meet other students in the department and engage with professors outside of the classroom. Since the club's revival three years ago, it has sponsored Geography Bowl teams, attended conferences at home and regionally, and participated in mapping experiments. With that said, all are welcome to participate and get involved in one way or another.
A chapter of Gamma Theta Upsilon (GTU), the national honor society in geography, is sponsored by the department. On occasion, guest lecturers from other colleges and universities are invited to speak to meetings of GTU and the department. GTU also awards five scholarships each year.
