Geography and Environmental Planning Major

Students choosing to major in geography and environmental planning will be exposed to a wide range of courses such as human geography, physical geography, and the geosciences. The broad education in geography prepares students for a variety of professions.

Geography majors must complete a minimum of 40 units in geography courses with a grade equivalent of 2.00 or higher. Of these 40 units, 19 units of core courses are required plus 3 units of regional courses. The remaining 18 units in the major are selected from 100-400 level geography electives reflecting your areas of interest. A maximum of 3 units of these electives may be taken at the 100 level and 3 units at the 200 level, or 6 units at the 200 level.
