The Gerontology Program at Towson University offers an undergraduate
degree program leading either to the Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of
The course work is multidisciplinary and provides students
with an understanding of the scope of gerontology, the issues that
are central to the study of aging, and a perspective from which students
may understand the phenomenon of human aging and its implications
The program is designed to prepare students for entry-level
occupational positions in the field of aging and to provide the knowledge
and skills necessary for graduate and professional schools.
All gerontology students complete at least one internship during their academic work. The settings available for an internship are diverse and reflect the changing field of aging services. Students have worked in area agencies on aging, state and federal agencies, residential settings, care management organizations, advocacy organizations and non-profits serving older adults and their families.
