Health Care Management Major

Internship Meeting Dates for Prospective HCMN Interns

ALL students interested in obtaining a internship placement MUST attend the following preinternship meetings.  Failure to attend one of the meetings will render the student ineligible for internship placement.  Students MUST meet with their advisor well in advance of the meetings to obtain clearance for the internship and discuss potential internship sites.

Students must bring TO THE MEETING a signed copy of their Degree Progress Report , indicating advisor clearance for internship!

Meeting dates for Spring 2014 Internships are to be determined. Meeting dates for Fall 2013 are posted as a frame of reference.

Fall 2013 Meeting Dates:

Thursday, February 14, 9:30am – 12:00pm

Thursday, March 7, 9:30am–12:00pm

Thursday, May 9, 9:30am–12:00pm

You must submit online an Internship Request Form where you will include a list of your top three choices for internship site. (Placements are assigned, in part, based on a first come, first serve basis.)

Please note some new internship sites have been added. Please look over the listing of sites. Complete paper files with additional information are available in the department main office.

Students who do not bring/submit all required documentation for the preinternship meeting will not be eligible for internship placement for the term requested.

Students not adhering to the steps below AND the policies and procedures as outlined in the HCMN Internship Handbook risk NOT being placed for an internship.

Note: Students will receive permits for registration from Professor Nelson  only after receipt of the completed Interview Form

**Faculty are responsible for planning, developing, and implementing curriculum for programs of study that are reflective of the needs of the field and the certifying and accrediting bodies of our disciplines. The Health Care Management Internships are part of the curriculum in the majors. The sites that participate in these Internships have been reviewed and approved for inclusion in our curriculum by the Health Care Management Program Director of the Department of Health Professions.

All sites must sign a Letter of Agreement with the Department of Health Professions, a legal document that stipulates how the Internship Site will be providing an educationally appropriate setting for our students. This document can only be signed by University officials. Students are not legally allowed to enter into negotiations with potential internship sites.
