As a full member of the Association for University Programs in Health Administration (AUPHA), Towson HCMN students are elgible for a variety of awards and scholarships. Please check their website for additional information.
At the end of the semester, the faculty of Health Care Management reviews the graduating students to see who qualifies as a role model for future students in our program.
The criteria for which faculty use to review students for awards consists of:
1. growth in understanding of the professional role;
2. leadership within the department in classes and undergraduate student activities;
3. exemplification of ideals of a professional in the filed of study;
4. adherence to ethical principles in the practice of the profession; and
5. demonstration of a spirit of civility and cooperative learning.

Lavera Sawyer
Lavera is a future account executive. She performed her internship at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center in the marketing department. In May 2013, she was the Undergraduate Banner Carrier for the College of Health Professions. Lavera is best known for her positive attitude and helping others achieve their dreams.

Upsilon Phi Delta Honor Society
The purpose of the Upsilon Phi Delta Honor Society is to further the professional competence and dedication of the individual members in and for the profession of healthcare management.
This purpose is achieved by:
Recognizing students who achieve distinction in healthcare administration studies in universities and colleges.
Motivating academic excellence in students studying healthcare administration.
Recognizing, by means of granting honorary memberships, individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the profession.
Upholding and developing high professional standards and ethics for members of the profession.
The official colors of Upsilon Phi Delta are
crimson red and cobalt blue. The official flower
is the rose.
Members are selected on the basis of academic achievements, service to the community and/or contributions to the healthcare management profession. Members must have a GPA of 3.25 or greater and have completed 18 credits within the HCMN majors . If interested in becoming a member please contact Dr. Wayne Nelson at wnelson@towson.edu
If you meet the membership qualifications, you will be notified by the Department of Collaborative Programs to complete the application.
A membership fee of $25.00 payable to "AUPHA Upsilon Phi Delta" must be attached to the application and brought to Linthicum Hall, Room 121. Students can turn application and cash/check in to Cindy Wolfe in the front office from 8:30 am until 5 pm Monday through Friday. Members will be officially inducted into the honor society during the Office of Collaborative Programs Annual Awards and Honor Society Event held each Spring.
