Towson University's major in health education provides students with the opportunity to study the complex nature of wellness and human behavior. Students with an aptitude for science learn the skills that enable them to apply teaching and learning principles to programs that maintain or improve the well being of others. Students selecting the student teaching experience will receive certification to teach grades 7 through 12. Praxis ExamsPraxis ICompleting the Praxis I exam is one of several requirements for students in the School Health concentration and should be completed in the academic year before candidates begin student teaching. Students can prepare for the Praxis I through internet self preparation programs. Praxis IIThe Praxis II exam must be completed before the end of the student teaching experience. Students must also undergo speech and hearing screening. In 2010, 100% of our candidates passed the PRAXIS II exam vs. the statewide figure of 92%!
