Nancy Romita-Choreographer

Nancy Romita, artistic director of The Moving Company, has twice received an Individual Artist's Award for Excellence in Choreography for The Maryland State Arts. She was awarded grants from the Mayor's Committee of Art and Culture from 1994 to 1999. Nancy Romita worked in New York City at the Dance Theater Workshop, Theater of the Riverside Church, and the 92nd Street YMWHA.

She has worked as movement designer for other Theater Project performers, with directors Tim Brown and Denise Gant. Nancy's dance/theater work has also been performed at the Dance Place in Washington, D.C.; Connecticut College; State University of New York at Purchase; the Theater Project and elsewhere. Nancy's work has been commissioned by the Dance in Education Fund, Inc., Aurora Dance Company, Towson University, Essex Community College, Karen & Alvin, the 92nd Street YMWHA Dance Program and the Maryland Food Committee.

Nancy has taught for the American Dance Festival in Durham, North Carolina, Connecticut College, State University of New York at Purchase, University of Maryland at Baltimore County and is currently on the faculty of Towson University. She is a certified teacher of the Alexander technique, and is currently an M.F.A. candidate in Theatre at Towson University.
