Peter Foley is also an accompanist and an award-winning composer-lyricist. As music director, he is pleased to have guided Heartfield through two workshops, in New York and at Towson University.

His musical The Hidden Sky, for which he wrote music and lyrics, was recently produced by Prince Music Theater in Philadelphia. Previous theatrical works include a short one-act musical, The Bear, a full-length musical, Whitechapel and numerous songs and incidental scores for plays. Film and television projects include independent feature films and documentaries, commercials, educational videos and the theme for Bill Moyers’s series, Listening to America.

For his work as a composer-lyricist, he has received the Richard Rodgers Award (American Academy of Arts and Letters) and the Stephen Sondheim Award (Prince Music Theater), grants from the NEA and the Jonathan Larson Performing Arts Foundation, and residencies from the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center, the MacDowell Colony and the Millay Colony.

A native of Berkeley, California, he is married to director/writer Kate Chisholm. Peter Foley is a member of ASCAP and of the Dramatists Guild.
