Lina and Wieland listen to a radio announcement, reporting the election results, as Johnny, George and Hannah enter, and a projection is screened: "Six Million Communist Votes." A slide of a photomontage showing the Chancellor with a ladle and bucket is projected. The actor playing Piscator enters with a ladle and bucket, dressed like the Chancellor in the photomontage, and delivers a short speech in an exaggerated accent. Again, this is a staging device used to break the illusion of "reality" throughout the musical.
