Honors College Faculty Handbook
Study Abroad Experience
The Honors College in collaboration with the Towson Study Abroad
Office provides opportunities for faculty to submit proposals for
the design of an Honors College Summer Study Abroad experience on
an annual basis.
A successful proposal will be funded for a one-time "planning
grant" at up to $4,000, to support expenses incurred in organizing
the experience. Up to $2000 of the grant may be used as a summer
subsistence stipend. Other allowable expenses include travel and
supplies. The course associated with the experience will be for
honors credit, but some spaces may be set aside for qualified non-honors
students with the Honors College Dean and instructor's permission.
Those awarded a planning grant will be expected to produce a full-curriculum
plan and budget for the experience with sufficient time for academic
planning and recruitment. Faculty will be compensated at the 3 credit
summer course rate during the summer the course is taught. Although
only one proposal can be awarded for each academic year, strong
proposals will be kept in reserve for possible future funding.
