Honors College Service Learning Program

The Honors College Service Learning Program aims to assist students in seeking intellectual excellence and leadership by providing opportunities for students that go beyond the typical college experience. Here you will find community building opportunities for you to join with other members of the Honors College as well as a variety of other volunteer activities through local service organizations.

The Honors College Service Learning Program also provides the student with the opportunity to fulfill their Honors College project requirement. The Service Learning Project is based on a student's interest and current research about social issues. Students are required to participate in a service-learning activity for a minimum of 45 hours per term. Service Learning includes working with a designated agency, integrating service into a student academic studies, outreach programs that engage students and the community in common, hands-on-action, policy research, or community problem solving. A journal and formal paper with a research focus are required. This course is repeatable for a maximum of 6 units.
